Raggle Taggle & Pyjama Boy

Thanks for your thoughtful letter. However, might I persuade you to take a further look when they reach first draft screenplay format?

I share your feelings about dramas in which the issue outweighs the characters. But I don’t think our audience think of Trainspotting or Kids as primarily ‘about’ drugs or AIDS, or Secrets and Lies as primarily ‘about’ the problems of adopted children. The characters draw us in so we forget we’re watching an ‘issue’ drama.

Equally, I feel that Raggle Taggle and Pyjama Boy are primarily rattling good stories and will make fantastic movies for theatrical distribution.

Might I persuade you to take a further look when they reach first draft screenplay format?

P.S. Did you notice that the thirtieth anniversary of Cathy Come Home was marked by two television documentaries (ITN and BBC1) and about ten newspaper articles. Quite something! I don’t think there’s been a single other television programme which could claim a half of that.
